Every year, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) receives fulltime undergraduate and postgraduate international students. In the 2019-2020 academic year, VNUA receives nearly 30 students from Laos, Cambodia, Angola, and Mozambique, making the total current international students at VNUA of almost 150. Noticeably, this year, VNUA receives one Japanese student who will pursue undergraduate degree for the first time.

On September 6, 2019, the International Cooperation Office organized the orientation meeting for newly enrolled international students in the 2019 – 2020 academic year in order to provide them orientation and important information such as their rights and responsibilities, regulations for international students. In addition, the International Cooperation Office also address the most common issues they might encounter when studying and living in Vietnam.

Participating in the meeting were leaders and staff of the International Cooperation Office, and representatives of senior international students. At the beginning of the meeting, leaders of the International Cooperation Office welcomed the new international students and shared that: Certainly, there will be difficulties that international students have to tackle when studying in a new environment and being far away from family; However, the International Cooperation Office hopes that they will have an amazing time studying at VNUA and believes that with their effort and the supports and care of the university, especially the International Cooperation Office, international students will achieve good academic results.

The new international students also expressed their joy when having the chance to participate in the meeting with a warm welcome by VNUA lecturers and staff and attention of senior international students. They also showed their determination in their study to gain the best academic achievements and complete their courses timely.

After the meeting, the international students joined a party celebrating Vietnam’s Independence Day 2 September, which is one of the annual events for international students who study at VNUA under official agreements.

Prior to this occasion, the 2019 Culture Night had been organized to provide international students and VNUA students an opportunity to exchange cultures and connect with each other, thereby helping them adapting quickly with the new culture and learning environment. The event had drawn the participation of almost 200 international students from 10 countries, including Japan, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Czech Republic, Angola, Mozambique, Germany, the Netherlands, Korea and VNUA students.
