Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan delivers a speech at the event.

At the Doctoral Degree Award Ceremony in December 2024, 16 PhD students successfully completed their programs and defended their theses thanks to the university's attention and their own efforts.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA’s President, emphasized that the award ceremony marked a journey of study and research full of determination, enrolling them in the country's high-ranking intellectuals. VNUA warmly congratulated the new PhDs and their families.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA’s President also stated that, with nearly 70 years of history, VNUA was proud of its contributions to training and scientific research. The university’s alumni, masters, and PhDs were contributing to the country in many important positions. VNUA hoped that the new PhDs would continue to be successful and always look towards the university.

VNUA’s President awarded PhD degrees

Dr. Nguyen Quang Nam was a former undergraduate student of the university who returned to study for PhD at the Faculty of Economics and Management, VNUA after studying for a master's degree abroad and was currently working at Vietnam’s Government Office. He said that“The PhD in Economics at VNUA is suitable for the major of Development Economics that I am pursuing. Thanks to the familiar environment and the enormous help of lecturers, I have changed my learning style and conducted more research on my own than the time when I was an undergraduate student. During my research, although my job made it difficult for me to travel around, VNUA still created the best conditions to help me complete the program. I highly appreciate the quality of doctoral training programs at VNUA. The training is serious, meticulous, and even relatively strict.”

Each new PhD will be a "talent", contributing to the development of the country.

In the context that Vietnam's agricultural sector was still quite backward compared to other countries in the region and the world. Therefore, the development of high-quality human resources had become an urgent issue, not only of interest to the Party and the State but also of deep awareness by agricultural and forestry universities. With the goal of contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the country, PhD student Dong Thanh Mai, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, VNUA, had chosen to continue studying for a PhD, especially in majors related to management and human resource management in the agricultural sector at VNUA.

Dr. Nguyen Quang Nam, a former undergraduate student of VNUA, returned to the Faculty of Economics and Management, VNUA after studying for his master's degree abroad.

Dr. Thanh Mai shared that “The training program at VNUA is very flexible and adaptable to market needs. In particular, VNUA creates favourable conditions for PhD students to come up with practical solutions, instead of focusing only on theory. After 5 years of PhD study here, I have found that the training quality at VNUA is very high. Through sharing with my friends and colleagues, I acknowledge that the study program here creates a lot of pressure, with strict quality standards and high academic requirements, from surveys, data processing to publishing in major journals, etc.

Despite all the pressure, the achievements after 9 months of defending the thesis are enormous. My thinking ability has been expanded and changed vastly. I myself am no longer afraid to approach new problems and easily meet the requirements of the job. This also helps to open up many opportunities for me to cooperate with external units and agencies”.

Dr. Dong Thanh Mai

The December 2024 PhD Award Ceremony at VNUA was a great success, marking an important turning point in the careers of 16 new PhDs. The event not only affirmed the training quality and position of the university in providing high-quality human resources for the country, especially in the field of agriculture, but also demonstrated the tireless efforts of young scientists.
