In the warm and exciting atmosphere of the coming Tet festival spreading the whole country and with the aim of preserving the traditional Lunar New Year celebration, during 24 to 25/01/2019, the Trade Union of the university organized the Chung Cake Making Contest with theme “Huong vi ngay xuan – Flavor of spring days” for all staff.

The contest drew the participation of more than 1,000 staff of VNUA. In preparation for the contest, from the early morning of the 24th, all participating teams actively assigned specific tasks to it members for example some persons clean the “lá dong” or phrynium leaves,  some prepare bamboo strings, sticky rice, mung bean, ground pork and some wrap chung cakes and some take care of boiling them.

Speaking at the Contest, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA president, affirmed that Chung cake is a traditional cake of the Vietnamese people to express the gratitude of descendants to ancestors. Chung cake symbolizes a family reunion after a hard-working year. Through this contest, the Presidency Board would like to promote the traditional culture of the nation and at the same time enhance the solidarity and harmonization among VNUA staff in order to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party and the State. At the end of the Contest, 02 first prizes, 04 second prizes, 10 third prizes and 07 consolation prizes were awarded to participating teams.
