Opening the Summer School 2014 at Vietnam National University of Agriculture

On 18 June 2014, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) officially opened the forth Summer School (2014) on Vietnam Agriculture with the participation of 19 students from Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS), Czech Republic.

The opening ceremony was honored to receive Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tat Canh, VNUA’s Vice President, and Ms. Sandra Krupickova, the coordinator of the course at CULS. The ceremony was also attended by representative leaders from the Offices of Political and Student Affairs, and International Cooperation, lecturers and advanced education programs students of the two faculties, viz. Accounting & Business Administration and Agronomy.

At the opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tat Canh strongly expected that the participating students would have a valuable and practical training program with broad knowledge and deep insight on the culture as well as the agriculture of Vietnam.

The Summer School conducted in English offers 4 modules on the Vietnamese Culture and Food, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Systems, Ecology and Ecological Diversity in the Red River Delta of Vietnam. Each module provides students with both in-class lectures and study tours. One or two day study tour brings students to famous cultural destinations and handicraft villages in Northern Vietnam such as the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, Bái Ðính Temple, Spiritual and Cultural Complex and Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh province, Phung Cong ornamental tree village in Hung Yen province, Van Phuc Silk Village in Ha Dong Hanoi, Ngoc Dong bamboo and rattan village in Ha Nam province. Students also have chances to learn and cook typical Vietnamese foods and join student exchange events, especially a special and beautiful event called Moon Festival.

The fourth Summer School affirms a close cooperation between the two universities and continues promoting joint training activities and research in the coming time.
