A Conference on "Promotion of agricultural mechanization for agricultural sector’s restructuring held at Vietnam National University of Agriculture

In recent years, agricultural mechanization has been intensively developed both in quality and quantity which has made a great contribution to improvement of farm power and labor as well as productivity and reduction of post-harvest losses. However, it hasn’t met needs of market oriented agricultural development towards global integration and still less developed than regional level.On 12 June 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a conference on "Promotion of agricultural mechanization for agricultural sector’s restructuring" at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).The conference reviewed status quo of application and market of machineries and equipment in agricultural production and proposed measures to boost mechanization in the process of agricultural restructuring towards production of higher added value agricultural commodities and sustainable development.Attending the conference were Mr. Vu Van Tam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hue, Director of the Department of Processing and Trade for Agro-forestry-Fisheries Products and Salt Production, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, President of VNUA, representatives of the Government Office, the Central Economic Committee and relevant agencies, and mass media, etc.Graduation Ceremony for Graduates in 2015

On 25 May 2015, a Seminar on Vietnamese Scholar Program 2016 (VSP 2016) – Opportunities and Application Process was held at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). Ms. Do Thu Huong, Fulbright Program assistant, Vietnam and the U.S, the Department of Culture and Information - the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi attended the Seminar together with VNUA lecturers and researchers. Particularly, the Seminar received the attendance of Assoc. Prof. John Barnett from the University of Emporia State, the U.S, a scholar of the U.S Scholar Program 2015 (under Fulbright Program). Assoc. Prof. John Barnett is working as a lecturer at the Advanced Training Program in Agri- Business Management at the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Vice President for International Affairs of Vietnam National University Agriculture (VNUA) together with representative leaders from Faculty of Veterinary, International Cooperation Office, Science and Technology Office warmly welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thu Annelise Nguyen from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, on 06 April 2015. This is the first visit of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) to VNUA. At the meeting, both sides made a brief introduction to the university on history timelines, human resources, facilities, organization structure, student enrolment, advanced and joint training programs, etc. VNUA and CVM also discussed on steps and essential activities to promote collaboration on training and research i.e. possibilities to proceed MOU signing and follow up actions. They further focused on mutual interest particularly in veterinary medicine, a strong discipline of both universities.
