Signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of International Agriculture Cooperation - University of Dankook

The Institute of International Agriculture Cooperation of University of Dankook - Korea (DICA DKU) and Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) organized a MoU signing ceremony on the morning of 27th January, 2016. Attendees of the signing ceremony from DICA DKU included Mr. Lee Dong Jin, Director of DICA, and various staff and fellows from the institute. VNUA was represented by Vice-President Nguyen Xuan Trach, who chaired the event, and members of the Institute of Biotechnology and International Cooperation Office.The memorandum that was signed, following the success of research cooperation between the Institute of Biotechnology - VNUA and DICA DKU, confirmed new development of cooperative relations between the two universities. The memorandum is a stable basis for the two sides to reach specific and long-term cooperation goals in order to enhance the training and research capacities of staff and students at VNUA.Cooperation in training and research with Israel

Representatives from the Ramat NegevDesert Agricultural Research Center (Ramat Negev Center) at the University of Ben-Gurion Negev and the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam visited and worked with the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) on 19th January. The Israeli side included Mr. Melchi Or Alon, Director of the Ramat Negev Center, Mr. Avigad Vonshak, expert on seaweed from the University of Ben-Gurion Negev, and Ms. Nguyen Bao An from the International Cooperation Department at the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam. On the side of VNUA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA’s President, chaired the meeting and there were representatives from the International Cooperation Office, Political and Student Affairs, the Institute of Training and International Development, and the Faculty of Biotechnology. On December 18, 2015, a Conference on Sustainable Livestock Development 2015 was held by the Faculty of Animal Science in collaboration with the Coordination Office of Vietnam – Belgium Project with themes in the fields of animal science, veterinary medicine, biotech application in animal science, livestock environment, food technology, food safety, agricultural economics & rural development. On December 7, 2015, a delegation of Marine and Coastal Resources Institutes (MACORIN), Prince of Songkla University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit Towatana, the Director, had an official visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Welcoming the delegation was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the International Cooperation Office together with representatives of the Faculty of Environment, the Faculty of Aquaculture and Fisheries. In the afternoon of December 11th 2015, VNUA’s Acting President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan attended "Launch Ceremony of Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC)". VCIC has been funded by the World Bank and become the 7th business hub in the system of Global Climate Innovation Center to solve climate related changes. The project has been implemented in Vietnam from 2015 to 2019. One of the priority activities of the project is to support technology incubators and enterprises in providing climate change adaptive services and products in the agricultural sector. Since Vietnam is one of the five countries predicted to be among the most affected by climate change, the Vietnamese Government considers clean technologies as a key to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 8 to 10% between 2010 and 2020, and 1.5 to 2% by 2050.The workshop on developing national product chain serving for the dairy and beef industries in Vietnam held at Vietnam National University of Agriculture

In order implement activities realizing the Development Strategy of the Science and Technology in the period of 2011-2016 of the Faculty of Land Management (FLM), Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), and under its cooperation framework with the Faculty of Agriculture (FOA), Institute of Tropical Agriculture (ITA), Kyushu University (KU), Japan, an International Symposium on “Impacts of land use changes on the soil and water quality and rural environment in Vietnam and Japan” was organized on 21 November 2015 at VNUA with the aims of identifying related emerging issues and figuring out appropriate solutions for land use, land management, rural environmental protection, as well as agricultural production at present and in the future.Prof.Dr. Kazuaki Hiramatsu, Dean of the FOA, Prof.Dr. Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Director of the ITA, and KU experts attended the Symposium. On 16 November, 2015, the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) successfully organized a seminar on "Achievements of scientific research in the field of agricultural engineering in 2015" with the aim to review remarkable scientific activities in the 2014-2015 period and present notable research findings of the faculty. The seminar was also a venue for the faculty to discuss and exchange new ideas for further research development, as well as honor excellent faculties of the year. It directed research themes in the coming period too.Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Le Minh Lu, Dean of the FOE emphasized the importance of science and technology in agricultural engineering and stated that the FOE always highly recognizes the contribution and efforts of the faculty for the science and technology development of the FOE as well of the university. He expected that the faculty would continue their passion and commitment in research and training.
