The Seminar aimed at improvement of system for human resource development, poverty alleviation through benefit sharing by developing value chains, enhancement of food security, and increased opportunities for industrial development, business relevant to all parts of the food value chain, and enhancement in intra- and extra-ASEAN trade and long-term competitiveness of ASEAN’s products/commodities/services. Through the Seminar, participants were provided with the most updated information on the development status of food industry in Japan and Vietnam as well as the manipulation of the food value chain according to the operation of enterprises, from production, processing and preservation to distribution.

After the Seminar, an one day Job Fair took place. At this event,  representatives from Yoshinoya Company, a Japanese fast food chain born in 1899 in Tokyo, Japan, gave a talk about business methods in serving traditional wholesome and delicious Japanese cuisine with the message "Fast and nutritious", the key to the worldwide success of the company over 100 years. Besides, the company also introduced plan of establishing franchises in Vietnam together with recruitment opportunities for VNUA’s students to Japan to work. On this occasion, the company held recruitment interviews at VNUA and expected to recruit 4 to 6 students to work in Japan with 05 year contract and a starting salary of about 1700 USD/month. VNUA’s students also had another opportunity to apply for the position as Student Ambassador to CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Cooperation, one of the most powerful corporations of Thailand in the field of agriculture and food processing.

At his closing remarks, VNUA’s representative strongly expected that with the attendance of keynote speakers and lecturers from universities/institutes/research institutions as well as enterprises, valuable knowledge and experiences shared at the Seminar would contribute actively in human resources development in food value chains and promote bilateral cooperation between Japan and Vietnam in the field of agriculture in general and food industry in particular. In addition, this event laid down a foundation for other joint shorting courses, seminars and so on with Japanese partners in the coming time.
