1.    Transport

How to go to VNUA from Noi Bai International Airport

VNUA is located in the suburb of Hanoi, about 37 km from Noi Bai International Airport. It takes your about 1 hour from Noi Bai International Airport to VNUA. You can take a Grap or a taxi with the cost of around 300.000 VND (about 10-12 USD). Grap may be cheaper. You may ask VNUA staff to assist you reserve a car to pick you up from the airport.

How to travel to the center of Hanoi

The main means of transport within Hanoi city are motorbikes, buses, taxis. It is recommended that you should take the buses to the center of Hanoi. The bus number 11 right in the campus will take you directly to Hanoi Center.  It costs only 9,000 VND/one-way and takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to the center.

2.    Food

Hanoi is also famous for its diverse and affordable cuisine. You find phở, bún chả, bánh cuốn, bành mỳ for breakfast everywhere in Hanoi. VNUA. For lunch and dinner, you can have at restaurants, fast-foods outlets every where. We believe that you will love Hanoi’s cuisine.

3.    Health

If you need medical help, you can visit University Clinic that provides health care services inside the campus for staff and students or you can find nearby hospitals. It is recommended that foreign tourists and foreign people living in Hanoi should go to private ones as they accept international health insurance with international standard services and facilities.

4.    Banking and finance

It is highly recommended for international students to register a local bank account when living in Vietnam. In the campus of VNUA, you will find BIDV or Agribank, the two among biggest banks in Vietnam. Making payments using VISA/Mastercard debit or credit cards is nowadays common at supermarkets, restaurants, and hotels…, while cash remains the most common form of payment for local basic deals such as street market.

 

5.    Living cost

In general, the living cost in Hanoi is a bit higher than most places in Vietnam but in Gia Lam, where VNUA is located, is quite cheaper than any other places of Hanoi. A bowl of Phở or a pax of Bún chả is about 40.000 -50.000 VND.

The estimated living cost for a foreign student is around from $300-400 USD per month for basic needs as food, house renting, transportation...
